A South African Anglican gay priest has tied the knot with his long time Kenyan partner in a colorful wedding attended by the jubilant congregation. Reverend John maierepi said “I do” to his longtime husband, Pastor Paul Mwaura, amid cheers from their supporters and LGBT colleagues.

When asked why they “choose” to be gay, the preachers responded that sexual orientation is inborn, unchosen and unchangeable.

Cable ship restores SA's international internet connectivity

Image:   alphaspirit/123rf.com South Africans can breathe a sigh of relief after international internet connectivity was restored by the crew of a cable repair ship early on Wednesday. An unprecedented simultaneous cable break of two Atlantic Ocean-based submarine cable systems in January saddled internet users in the country with reduced speed on international browsing and also had an impact on international voice calling and mobile roaming. Infrastructure provider Openserve's spokesperson, Pynee Chetty, said on Wednesday that confirmation was received at 1:30am from aboard cable ship  Leon Thevenin  that "the portion of the SAT3/WASC repair offshore Congo was complete, concluding  a long and complex restoration process of an unprecedented simultaneous cable break”. First officer Tebogo Lekalakala, 33, Capt Thabiso Collins Tolo, 49, and flight inspector Gugu Comfort Mnguni, 36, died when the 33-year-old Cessna Citation they were in crashed in the southern Cape on Thursday. Tebogo's husband Modikana Lekalakala yesterday said he was devastated by his wife's death. "I got a call from CAA [Civil Aviation Authority] and they said they had lost contact with her plane - as someone who works in the aviation sector, I know what that means," he said.
